How about joining us for Sing Along Messiah this Christmas?
Come December, we will perform excerpts from Handel’s Messiah together with the audience and professional soloist. The concert is a ‘sing-along event’ and will alternate between choral movements sung by the Chamber Choir Musica alone and choral movements sung together with the audience. The solo parts will be sung by professional singers.
As a singing audience, you can choose whether you want to sit with your voice group or whether you want to sit in the common section (maybe with a group of friends). There will also be a section for concerts listeners who just want to enjoy the music.
The choir’s conductor Filipe Carvalheiro will guide everyone through the concert, and there will also be ‘singing helpers’ present in the audience.

Practical information
Who can join the concert?
The concert is open to all music lovers. Whether you are an experienced choir singer, or an occasional crooner, or just want to ‘listen along’, you can join the Christmas festivities. You can also join as a group of friends or an entire choir. Families with children are also welcome.
Have no fear: the ‘sing-along’ is an informal and playful concept focusing on community and musical enjoyment, so you can’t do anything wrong.
How can I prepare?
No extensive rehearsal or previous singing experience is required, but if you wish, there are several ways to prepare for the concert:
Before the concerts, Musica invites you to an open choir rehearsal, where we will go through the movements that the audience sings along to, together with the choir conductor and a pianist. Everyone is welcome to participate. Prior registration is not necessary.
On the concert days, the audience will have the opportunity to meet 45 minutes before for an open choir rehearsal, where we will do a warm-up and rehearse the most important movements together with a pianist and members of the choir.
· Open choir rehearsal for everyone: Monday December 7 at 7-10 pm in Hans Tausens Kirke, entrance from Halfdansgade.
· Meeting time for singing through and warming up in Christianskirken in Lyngby: 3:15 pm.
· Meeting time for singing through and warming up in Lindevang Kirke 6:45 pm.
Meeting time for singing through and warming up in Køge Kirke – Sct. Nicolai: 3:15 pm.
What about the score?
When you buy a ticket, you have the option to purchase a physical vocal score with the relevant movements which will be handed to you at the entrance. If you need to look at the notes before the concert, you can download the score for free below (and on the Billetto page). There will also be a QR code at the concert for downloading the score for tablet or phone. You are also very welcome to bring your own vocal score of The Messiah.
The audience is invited to join the following movements (to be updated for the 2026 concerts):
Part I
– And the glory of the Lord
– O thou that tellest good tidings to Zion
– For unto us a child is born
Part II
– Surely, he hath borne our griefs and carried our sorrows
– And with his stripes we are healed
– All we like sheep have gone astray
– The Lord gave the word
– Hallelujah
